RECORD ATTENDANCE AT ANNUAL CONFERENCE!
The INGCOA Annual Conference brought record attendance from member courses to network, learn and share information about owning a golf course in Indiana. The Keynote Address by Mike Hughes, CEO of the National Golf Course Owners Association, praised Indiana's leadership and success in working closely with legislators to reduce golf course property taxes. Hughes spoke about national trends in the industry, and provided information about a new relationship with the US Chamber of Commerce which will strengthen legislative opportunities in Washington, while also enhancing member benefits. Other topics included presentations on Lease Management and Equipment Maintenance, the new Applicator Certification and Licensing Rules and Social Media. The topic of most interest was Barry Wood's presentation on the Income Capitalization Method to be used by local assessors to determine the basis for golf course property taxes.  A highlight of the conference was the beautiful facilities and distinquished service from the staff at The Hawthorn's Golf and Country Club. Representing The Hawthorn's, Al Martell of HDG Mansur Leisure Division, accepted the Indiana Course of the Year 2010 Award, sponsored by Kenney Outdoor Solutions.  Over a dozen PGA members received PGA credits for attendance, and several courses received a $75 discount on new membership. Randy Ballinger of Walnut Creek Golf Course was the lucky winner of free registration to the NGCOA Annual Conference, compliments of NGCOA.

INGCOA BOARD CONSIDERS LEAGUE PROGRAM DIRECTION
The INGCOA Board of Directors is closely examining the golf league program to determine potential growth and future direction of the program. The Association first introduced an affiliation with Handicomp in 2007. Handicomp has developed a program to provide course owners and league managers the opportunity to maintain league handicaps and scoring in a computer-based, internet program. INGCOA's purpose of encouraging program participation is to add a new element to league golf and secure the continued growth of league play in Indiana. Participating courses were successful in gaining additional revenue and rounds at their courses. At the Annual Conference many course owners indicated league play was a growing and dependable market source in 2009.  If you did not participate in 2009, please consider utilizing this great tool to increase rounds and revenue at your course in 2010.
